KIRO Brick Course

Kindergarten98 lessons

Course Overview

The KIRO building block course uses frame + block assembly with DC motors, LEDs, melody boards, touch switches, IR sensors, RGB LEDs, sound sensors, and more. One kit builds hundreds of functional robots. Each lesson introduces one part, builds one robot, teaches one science concept, and recognizes one program—students deepen robot knowledge and assembly from simple to complex, designing and programming to build hands-on ability, creativity, and interest in robotics.

Self-Directed Learning
"Know parts → assemble → program → customize"—plan tasks, iterate through trial, self-check, and correction.
Independent Decision-Making
Choose decoration, improvements, and colors with justified design decisions.
Self-Management
Six segments per lesson—time for build and creativity; gather parts before class, sort after.
Engineering Thinking
Frames, rivets, blocks, motors, sensors—gears, linkages, tracks, sensor integration from parts to coordinated systems.
Computational Thinking
Four-semester line from program cards and sequence to sensor conditionals and multi-task control via pen-reader cards.
Design Thinking
Biomimetic and real-world prototypes—"base build → customize → share."
Cultural Understanding
Animal science, transport, frontier tech, humanities, safety through story contexts.
Communication & Collaboration
Story interaction, peer help, presentations—turn-taking, listening, teamwork.
Critical Thinking & Innovation
Fix unstable builds, wrong command order, weak effects—question, analyze, innovate iteratively.
Cute Comic Scenarios
Adorable characters in daily stories capture attention quickly.
Accessible Science
At least one science concept per lesson in plain, clear language.
Diverse Structures
Multiple frames with gears, axles, sliders, guide wheels—10+ mechanical designs.
Rich Themes
Art, nature, engineering, animals, creativity—fresh every lesson.
Powerful Hardware
10+ electronic components—unlimited creative forms.
Programming from the Ground Up
Pen-reader programming step by step—100+ cards for expanded possibilities.
